Company

History

Copient Health was founded in early 2019 to specifically address the inefficient use of one of a hospital's most expensive resources: the operating room. This inefficient use leads to unneccesary costs, lost revenue opportunities and compromised access for patients.

The company's CEO and co-founder previously brought software-based solutions to the risk management and patient access segments of healthcare, successfully growing and later selling companies in each segment. They hypothesized that software solutions rooted in a similar approach to intelligent process automation, coupled with machine learning-based predictive analytics could be applied to the issue of OR utilization, and could yield dramatic results.

Team

The 2020 pandemic brought about considerable change in daily life, including the way many of us work. After founding, growing, and eventually selling two "traditional" healthcare software companies, as well as starting Copient Health under the traditional model, the Copient Health team has adopted a new model. Copient Health embraces virtual work, a flat organizational structure and modern collaboration tools. This allows us to realize the tremendous gains in productivity, freedom and flexibility such a model offers. It also allows us to work with the best and brightest, regardless of geographic location.

Founders

Michael Burke, CEO

Mike has over 25 years of experience founding and growing healthcare technology companies. In 1997, he founded Dialog Medical, which became the leading provider of Informed Consent systems to hospitals and physicians. It was sold in 2011 to Standard Register (NYSE: SR). He founded Clockwise.MD in 2013 and grew the company to become the leading provider of on-demand care queue solutions. It was sold in 2011 to DocuTAP/Warburg Pincus in 2017. Mike was a founding member of Tapestry Charter School in Atlanta, an inclusive environment designed for middle and high school students on the autism spectrum and their typical peers. Mike serves as a mentor for aspiring entrepreneurs at Georgia Tech’s Advanced Technology Development Center (ATDC) and at the Atlanta Tech Village.

Keyton Weissinger, COO

Keyton has over 20 years of experience founding and growing technology companies. In 2000, he founded Hoteltools, the first cloud-based hotel property management system, sold in 2001 to Radiant Systems (now owned by NCR). He joined Mike Burke at Dialog Medical as VP of Technical Operations in 2003 to deliver the GA product and implement it at all 145 VA hospitals. When Dialog Medical was sold to Standard Register, he became VP Innovation, leading all healthcare technology product strategy through SR's acquisition by Taylor Communications in 2018 before founding Copient Health with Mike Burke. Keyton serves as a mentor for healthcare entrepreneurs as part of the Biolocity Program at Georgia Tech and is also a mentor for healthcare startups at Tulsa Innovation Labs.
